Richard G. Nolan opens at Cooperative Gallery for ‘Fifth Weekend’

Rich Nolan, a wood artist from Johnson City, will exhibit his collection of highly refined cherry & black walnut sculptures at the Cooperative Gallery 213 State Street Binghamton for a “Fifth Weekend” event, with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday September 29, 2017. The gallery exhibit will be open for the weekend of Sept 29-30th only, Friday, 3 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 12 to 4 p.m. The Cooperative Gallery often sponsors a special exhibit on the “Fifth Weekend” which happens each quarter.

Rich was recently honored by being selected to participate in the 41st Annual Philadelphia Museum Craft Show.  The show will showcase 195 craft artists, carefully selected from 1,000 applicants in a highly competitive jury process.  He will join artists from across the nation and world to sell one-of-a kind, museum quality pieces, at this year’s show, which runs from Nov. 9-12 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.

A self-described perfectionist, Rich’s background as a development engineer motivates his approach, resulting in a collection that is genuinely unique.  “While continually building on mastered achievements, each new creation demands that I challenge myself by introducing processes, techniques and shapes that have yet to be experienced,” states Nolan.  “This compulsion to constantly test my capabilities is what drives and inspires me to grow as an artist.”
